MLB: Power Ranking the Top 10 Teams (June 28) Stuck

It's hard to believe but the MLB season is already coming up on the halfway mark.

This week, in lieu of NL and AL power rankings, I have compiled the overall Top 10 MLB Rankings.

Rankings are not based off of W-L records alone. Other factors include strength of schedule, recent injuries, and overall team statistics.

Please note: These rankings were compiled taking into consideration all games played through July 27.

1. Texas Rangers (47-29)
Leading the majors with runs scored (408), a .284 batting average, .345 OBP, and .463 slugging percentage. Darvish (10-4) and Harrison (10-3) leading the staff.

2. New York Yankees (46-28)
Yanks face adversity with injuries to Sabathia and Pettitte. Team has opened up a five game lead in the AL East over Baltimore.

3. Washington Nationals (43-30)
Stellar pitching (3.01 ERA) is overshadowing a lackluster offense (.244 BA) and keeping the Nats atop the NL East. Harper watch: .214 BA over last seven days.

4. Los Angeles Angels (42-33)
Angels are surging with an 18-8 record over the last month. The only problem? Division leading Texas went 17-11 during that span.

5. Baltimore Orioles (41-33)
The O's were leading the AL East one month ago, but now trail the Yankees by five games. Birds have the most errors in baseball (66).

6. San Francisco Giants (43-33)
Lincecum found his groove against the Dodgers and earned his first win since April 28. No reason to believe Giants can't open up a lead in the NL West over Los Angeles.

7. Cincinnati Reds (41-33)
Reds have lost six of their last nine but still hold a two game lead over St. Louis and Pittsburgh in the NL Central. Aroldis Chapman somersaulted himself all the way into Dusty Baker's dog house.

8. Atlanta Braves (40-34)
Jason Heyward showed flashes of his brilliance with NL Player of the Week honors. His remarkable start as a rookie a couple years back marked him with unrealistic expectations.

9. Los Angeles Dodgers (43-33)
Just the fact that the Dodgers are not 10 games under .500 is astounding. Don Mattingly has done what he can with this shell of a lineup. Ethier may be joining Kemp on the DL.

10. St. Louis Cardinals (40-36)
Cards are doing pretty good at the plate (.276) and are in the top ten in team ERA. Their +69 run differential is best in the NL.

I'd probably put the Reds at #9 but besides that I don't see anything wrong with this list.

I think Baltimore is to high. I also think Washington is a little to high, but other then that it looks good.

the nationals pitching is the same as the Giants a couple years ago but their batting is better. plus Werth will be back. If they throw out the innings count, the Nats will win it all!
